Animal Rescue Corps teamed up with BISSELL Pet Foundation in July to orchestrate a massive pet rescue by air, flying more than 300 dogs, puppies, cats and kittens from an overburdened El Paso Animal Services to communities with high adoption rates, where the pets will quickly find new adoptive homes.
The University of Florida’s Maddie’s Shelter Medicine Program provided guidance, and after a week of preparations, volunteers came together to assist with prepping and loading the animals via private chartered jets, which safely transported them to adoption partners in California, New Jersey and Wisconsin.
